Gallstones
The Gallbladder is where bile collects and is excreted into the intestines,
where it aids in fat digestion. Sometimes the balance of the bile compounds is
upset and tiny solid particles form in the gallbladder called gallstones. These
tiny particles may grow as more material is deposited around them. Between
one third and one half of these gallstones do not produce any symptoms. In
others the symptoms vary between pain in the abdomen ad pain in the
shoulder blades. Over a period of hours the pain usually builds and then fade.
Some patients suffer bouts of vomiting.
Lecithin           Vitamin C         Bran
Lecithin is rich in phospholipids which prevent fats from clumping together.
Vitamin C has been shown to be an important link in conversion of cholesterol
into bile acids. Extra fiber rich Bran may also help prevent or treat gallstones.
In less developed countries where the levels of dietary fiber is extremely high
gallstones are very rare.
